Acquired: From Detroit in exchange for two draft picks- a second and conditional third round selection in 1998 and 1999.






Mike, along with his wife Jane have two children, daughter Amelia and son, Matthew Dean. The family resides in Mike's hometown of Calgary during the offseason. The Calgary Flames Booster Club named him Calgary's 1997 Male Athlete of the Year--the second time he has achieved this honor (also 1989). Mike enjoys visiting Napa Valley and San Francisco during his spare time. He is a big golfer and loves the Bay Area courses.









Mike Vernon was the Sharks' MVP last season, leading the Sharks to the 1997-98 playoffs. Mike has won the Stanley Cup twice, most recently with the Detroit Red Wings in 96-97.
