Ron and his wife, Margo, have twin girls, Madisen and Reigan. He enjoys outdoor activities, including golf, fishing and spending time with his family. He also spent a week on the Sharks cruise last summer with 200 Sharks Fans. During May of 1997, Ron was a celebrity guest (along with Kristi Yamaguchi and Ronnie Lott) for the American Cancer Society's "Courageous Kids Day" at Paramount's Great America, spending the afternoon with 600 kids and their families. Ron owns a vacation home in Whitefish, Montana where he is a neighbor of Sharks left wing Murray Craven. While in Montana, Ron helps conduct a hockey school. A member of the prestigious Sutter hockey family, Ron and his brothers, including Sharks Head Coach Darryl Sutter, run the Sutter Brothers Charity Foundation, an annual golf tournament and Sutter Ice Hockey Camp. His favorite hockey memory is going to the Stanley Cup finals twice with Philadelphia in 1984-85 and 1986-87. Ron is instituting a program this year, tentatively called "Toys or Tickets for Guns" where people can turn in weapons in exchange for Sharks tickets or Toys. He has targeted several dates in November and December for exchange dates.
