Bernie Nicholls is one of the Sharks' many seasoned veterans, his best being in 1988-89 when he scored 70 goals and 80 assists with the LA Kings. He is a big help in the development of the new rookies on the team, especially Patrick, Marco, and Andrei who joined last year.




Personal


Bernie and his wife, Heather, have twins, son Flynn and daughter McKenna. Bernie served as guest radio host on KNBR 68 during the afternoon of August 24, filling in for the vacationing Gary Radnich, with co-hosts Tony Granato and Dan Rusanowsky. A huge golf fan and avid player, he attended the U.S. Open last summer at the Olympic Club, where he mingled with Tiger Woods. Bernie plays to a three-handicap golf game and shot a 72 the first time he played the Olympic Club in 1996. During the NHL playoffs, Bernie was a guest analyst on The Ticket 1050 AM the afternoon following each game. Bernie is part owner of the New Mexico Scorpions of the Western Professional Hockey League, along with teammate Joe Murphy. In early September, Bernie participated in the Ganter Golf Challenge at San Juan Oaks Golf Course in San Juan Batista. He played in the pro am tournament and then caddied for Fred Couples and Craig Stadler during the Skins game portion of the event.
