Bryan and his wife, Kim, enjoy spending time at their cottage in Marmora, Ontario during the summer, with their son, Mason, and daughter, Logan. Bryan is a big fisherman and considers it the best form of relaxation. He also spent a lot of time working on his cottage last summer. The family's dog is named Whiskey. Bryan's favorite pre-game meal is pasta or steak. While growing up, he enjoyed watching Bobby Orr and Darryl Sittler. He lists his most memorable hockey moment as his experience in the Stanley Cup Finals with Chicago in 1992. Bryan played under Sharks Head Coach Darryl Sutter in Chicago earlier in his career.

Bryan Marchment joined the Sharks in the middle of the 1997-98 season. With him he brought a bitter rivalry with the Dallas Stars, which had already begun to escalate after Ed Belfour deserted the Sharks during the offseason. Most people think that Marchment is the dirtiest player in the league, but Marchment just argues that he's doing his job by making the opposition fear him.
