Scott was the Sharks' second first round pick in 1997) after Patrick Marleau was taken second overall). He went to San Jose as the 23rd pick overall. The Sharks coveted Scott enough to trade away a second-round pick in 1997 and a third round selection in 1998. An admirer of the playing of Scott Stevens and Ray Bourque, Scott has developed solid all-around skills, and was invited to attend Canadian Hockey's National Junior team evaluation camp in early August. He started skating at age 3 and has always wanted to be a professional hockey player. Scott plays baseball and lacrosse during the summer, likes golf, listens to all kinds of music (Garth Brooks is a favorite), and prefers steak for his pregame meal. A big movie buff, Scott considers "The Shawshank Redemption" as his all-time favorite. His most memorable hockey moment, he says, was when he was selected by the Sharks in the 1997 draft.
